Workplace Phrases
60 phrases every SSW worker needs.
Greetings and daily customs, work instructions, safety emergencies, break and schedule questions, how to ask for help, and how to report a problem — in order of the situations you'll actually face.
More than vocabulary
Knowing individual words is not the same as knowing what to say. These 60 phrases are complete, usable expressions — the kind you can produce under pressure, not just recognise in a textbook. Greetings, work instructions, safety emergencies, scheduling, and problem-reporting: the full range of what daily work actually requires.
Safety and rights phrases matter most
The most important phrases are often the ones workers are least prepared for. Reporting a safety hazard, saying you are injured, questioning a wage deduction, or flagging that your passport has been kept — these are not taught in general Japanese courses. This tool covers them directly.
6 categories, ordered by use
Greetings & customs, work instructions, safety & emergencies, breaks & scheduling, asking questions, and reporting problems. Each phrase includes romaji, meaning, and a usage note. Browse all categories or drill the ones you need most.
