What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how Kanousei collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use kanousei.net, including the readiness check, application intake, learning paths, workspace, and account features. Kanousei is operated by 叶セイ.

Information we collect

• Account information: email address, display name, native language, target path, and contact preference when you create an account through Supabase Auth.
• Application information: name, email, location, phone or WhatsApp, job interest, Japanese level, timeline, and obstacles submitted through the application intake form.
• Readiness data: answers, scores, weak areas, and recommended paths generated by the readiness check.
• Learning path progress: checklist completion states synced from your browser when you are signed in.
• Browser-stored data: draft form values, readiness snapshots, and path progress stored in your browser localStorage before account sync.
• Usage context: standard server logs including IP address, browser type, and page access patterns. We do not use third-party analytics trackers at this time.

How we use your information

• To operate the platform: delivering readiness results, saving applications, tracking learning progress, and maintaining your workspace.
• To support founder review: applications are reviewed by the founding team to assess preparation readiness and provide track-direction guidance. This is not automated hiring or placement.
• To improve the product: understanding submission patterns, common obstacles, and readiness distributions helps us build better content and features.
• To communicate with you: responding to applications, providing follow-up guidance, and sending account-related notifications.

Where your data is stored

Application data, readiness submissions, learning progress, and account information are stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS infrastructure). The site is deployed on Vercel. Browser-stored data remains on your local device until synced to your account.

Data sharing

Kanousei does not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third-party advertisers or data brokers. Your information may be shared with infrastructure providers (Supabase, Vercel) strictly for platform operation. If Kanousei develops employer partnerships in the future, your data will only be shared with specific employers with your explicit consent.

Data retention

Account and application data is retained as long as your account is active or until you request deletion. Browser-stored data can be cleared at any time through the workspace controls. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Your rights

• Access: you can view your data through the /account and /workspace pages at any time.
• Correction: you can update your profile information through your account settings.
• Deletion: you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
• Data export: you can request a copy of your stored data.
• Browser data: you can clear all browser-stored data through the workspace controls at any time.

Cookies and local storage

Kanousei uses Supabase Auth session cookies to maintain your sign-in state. We use browser localStorage to save draft form values, readiness results, and learning path progress for continuity across page visits. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

Children

Kanousei is not directed at individuals under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us for removal.

International data transfers

Your data may be processed in regions outside your country of residence, including the United States (Vercel, AWS/Supabase infrastructure) and Japan (domain registration). By using Kanousei, you consent to these transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of Kanousei after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
